Join Horizon on Sunset for a vernissage on November 7th from 7pm-10pm featuring the work of Brazilian master artist, LaetreV.  If you're unavailable on November 7th call the gallery at 281-853-9436 to schedule a private tour through November.

Laerte Vargas Figueiredo, was born in 1964 and raised in the military village of Campo dos Afonsos, in Rio de Janeiro. From a young age, he had a deep desire to make a living from art. He began painting in the mid-1980s and, throughout his career, explored various artistic phases, including landscapes, still lifes and human figures.

His paintings have established him as one of the greatest contemporary artists to emerge from Brazil. Following the style of many well-known modern masters, his works exude originality in vibrant and often surreal compositions, exploring themes of identity, culture and human emotion in abstract form.

His mastery of color, texture and geometry is a constant, used to achieve precise execution across a wide spectrum of contemporary subjects and styles.

Many of his works depict scenes from his hometown, capturing the unique beauty and kinetic energy of Rio de Janeiro. An American company has acquired the exclusive and official rights to use his works, offering high-quality giclées in both limited and open editions. His paintings adorn many of Brazil's finest homes and public spaces.
